One Bitcoin divides into 100,000,000 satoshis, named after creator Satoshi Nakamoto. Small purchases and Lightning payments are measured in sats.
Satoshis are why 'Bitcoin is too expensive' is a misconception — you can buy a few dollars' worth and own real Bitcoin. 'Stacking sats' is slang for accumulating small amounts regularly.
