Halving

Roughly every four years (every 210,000 blocks), the reward miners receive for each new block is halved. This steadily slows new supply until the 21-million cap is reached.

Halvings are Bitcoin's built-in scarcity schedule and historically preceded major bull cycles — though past patterns don't guarantee future ones. The next halving is a countdown the whole market watches.
