Halving

Quick definition

The event every ~4 years when new Bitcoin issuance is cut in half.

Roughly every four years (every 210,000 blocks), the reward miners receive for each new block is halved. This steadily slows new supply until the 21-million cap is reached.

Halvings are Bitcoin's built-in scarcity schedule and historically preceded major bull cycles โ€” though past patterns don't guarantee future ones. The next halving is a countdown the whole market watches.
