Getting that cash to your bank is the second half. From the exchange's withdrawal screen, send the fiat balance to a linked, verified bank account. Watch for withdrawal fees and daily limits, which vary by exchange and by your verification level — higher KYC tiers usually unlock larger, cheaper withdrawals.

Peer-to-peer (P2P) selling is the main alternative, and sometimes the only practical one where local banking rules make exchange withdrawals difficult. On a P2P platform you list or accept an offer, the platform holds your Bitcoin in escrow, the buyer pays you directly (bank transfer, cash, or a payment app), and you release the coins only after confirming the money has actually arrived. Timing and fees deserve a moment's thought rather than a rushed click. Bitcoin is volatile, so the price you sell at can differ meaningfully from a day earlier; if you're not forced to sell immediately, a limit order lets you target a level instead of accepting whatever the market offers. Avoid selling during extreme volatility when spreads widen, and compare the all-in cost: trading fee, spread, and withdrawal fee together.

Selling is usually a taxable event, so close the loop with records. In most countries you owe tax on the gain between your purchase price and your sale price, and you'll want the dates, amounts, and values to calculate it — exporting your exchange's transaction history once a year is the easiest way.
